Access Statement
- Situated in Mdina, The Award Winning,The Knights of Malta Museum is spread out over 3 floors.
- There are no lifts at present.
- Visitors should allow 20-45 minutes to visit the whole site.
- Multi -lingual audio guides are available in Maltese, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, Greek, Danish, Norwegian, Russian, Japanese. Calculate approximately 20 minutes to explore a labyrinth walk through museum and another 20 minutes for the Audio-visual show
Pre-Arrival
- You will need to catch a bus to Mdina or Rabat.
- Bus route numbers to Mdina can be found at: publictransport.com.mt
- The closest bus stop outside Mdina is a short walk away (10 minutes) from The Knights of Malta.
- The Knights of Malta Museum is located in the upper part of Mdina, past the Cathedral of St.Peter and St. Paul and also near the public bastion viewing area.

Car Parking and Arrival
- The Knights of Malta does not have its own parking area. As parking within the Mdina walls is only restricted for residents, but there are car parks out side the city walls
- This attraction is a short walk away close to the bus station.

- If you are visiting us from the top of Magazine Street be aware of the steep gradient .
- The main entrance and ticket area has one door step and is situated on the ground floor.
- The entrance door width is :117cm
- As you enter the theatre to see the audio-visual show you will find five steps before entry.
- Theatre entrance width is : 130cm.
- Theatre floor is evenly paved and theatre has a seating capacity of 53 seats.
- Level access throughout ground floor walkthrough expect for one stone ramp and one wooden ramp.
- The Knights of Malta walkthrough has 20 steps from ground floor to first floor and a further five steps to access the upper first floor.
- You need to descend a flight of twenty steps to exit the walkthrough and complex.
- All areas of the complex are accessible from the main ticketing area .
- Pushchairs may not be taken beyond this point but a secure place is set aside for their storage. Therefore we advise visitors bring an infant harness.
Attraction (displays, exhibits etc)
- An audio tour to guide visitors through the walkthrough museum complex is available at no additional charge and runs for approximately 20 minutes with another 20 minutes for the 3D audio-visual show.
- The use of multi-lingual audio guides is a must as this makes the experience much more enjoyable.
- There are laminated leaflets available, which give detailed information for selected displays of special interest.
- Wooden benches are located at ticketing and entrance area.
- The floor surface is tiled and even within the walkthrough museum, whilst one area has natural wooden ramp and is slightly uneven.
- Handrails are present in staircase areas.
- There are some narrow passageways with within the walkthrough Museum.
- Lighting in the galleries is generally good and evenly lit with overhead lighting.
- However some areas are more dimly lit.
Guests Toilet
- Guests toilet is available on the ground floor near the Reception and Ticketing Area.
- The latter is a unisex toilet not accessible to wheelchairs.
- Toilet entrance is: width 74cm.
- The toilet is well lit with overhead lighting.
- The toilet is also equipped with a baby nappy changer.
Additional Information
- Tickets can also be purchased online through the website.
- Our website is also visual impaired.
- Guide dogs are welcome in the Museum. Please ask the reception desk if you require a water bowl.
- Clear signage is used throughout the attraction, white letters on green or red background.
OPENING TIMES: 10.00 – 17.00
The Knights Of Malta attraction is open 7 days a week between 10.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs, every day of the year except Christmas Day.
